Episode #68: Trump Sends ICE Agents and the National Guard to Terrorize Communities
On June 6, federal agents conducted massive raids in Downtown Los Angeles’ Fashion District, a Home Depot in the Westlake District and other locations.
Instead of helping community members, the LAPD was seen assisting ICE agents, who were attacking protesters and impeding court proceedings.
In response, protests erupted in Los Angeles. But despite this, the raids have spread throughout the country. About 59,000 immigrants in the US have so far been detained by ICE, since mid-August.
In Washington DC, President Trump moved from immigration to fighting crime by sending in the National Guard, despite a 30-year low in crime rates. He is planning to do the same in Chicago. Political pundits say his actions are signs of growing fascism in the country.
With us to discuss the issue is Jess Steever, spokesperson for the Freedom Socialist Party.
